These tix were surprisingly affordable
An incredible show, definitely one of the best shows I’ve seen (and I’ve seen a lot thanks to my wife). He sounded almost the same as he did 30 years ago. He danced around, seemingly with childlike enthusiasm and delight. He led the band with simple waves of his hand. He did an Elvis impersonation.
I can’t believe that I’ve never seen him until now, but I’m so happy I did because I believe him when he says this is the last tour (though I do believe he’ll continue to perform one-off shows, benefits, etc.). The crowd was a mix of, basically, every kind of person you can imagine. The backing band was, surprisingly, huge - as many as 15-16 musicians at any one time. I was really not expecting that. And the guitars, oh man, the guitars they played were some truly classic beauties (Telecasters, Danelectro’s, CF Martins, etc.).
I was kind of hoping that since it is Chicago that when he played You Can Call Me Al that Chevy Chase might come out and they’d reprise the video (he does show up here randomly from time to time) but I wasn’t actually expecting it. I really just can’t say enough good things about this show. If you have the chance to catch a stop on the remainder of this tour, do it.

Several of my favorite acts are aging out of the grueling tour thing, too. It’s precious when you can cross a big one like this off your list.

Same here. Two of the best ones I crossed off a few years ago were The Rolling Stones and Stevie Wonder. Now those were incredible shows (especial Stevie - Songs In The Key Of Life Live). But who knows if The Stones will ever really stop touring.

Oh, that would’ve been a great one to hear live, and he definitely had the musicians for it. But, I guess, with a catalogue like his, it’s hard to trim down to a 2 hour-ish show - or it’s easy, just close your eyes and point to a list of songs to choose them.

I kinda think they’ll just prop their coffins up on stage and play Start Me Up.
I missed out on the last Genesis tour ten years ago. Now, I hear they could possibly reunite. I don’t want to miss that. Also, there are 80s tours of some of my favorite bands going on. I just need to find someone to go with.

Ha, I could see that for sure.
I’d love for them to reunite, I’d definitely be attending that show. But, based on Tony Banks’ most recent statements, I don’t think it’ll be happening.

Collins will have to be back in decent health. I think if his new solo comeback tour goes well, you’ll see talk of it start to pick up.
It would be cool to have old and new Genesis perform together and fold Gabriel back in. Even though Collins has said it wouldn’t make sense to mix the two sets, I think it could totally be done. That’s even more unlikely, but you never rule anything out with old men who look back on their lives with increasing amounts of nostalgia and rose colored glasses.

Truer words, Chariot, truer words.
